My Story

As a child, I read the dictionary for fun. There, I said it. Rather than moving from a to z (aardvark to zymosan, if you will), I sought out obscure words like barbican and yoicks. (Take some time to look them up!) This nerdy pursuit fostered my lifelong love of words. Before too long, I was not only reading everything in sight but also proofreading and rewriting the papers of fellow students.

As an adult, I’ve enjoyed a long corporate career as an administrative professional. I’ve been tasked with and relied upon to create, edit, and proofread various documents, including presentations, marketing materials, and websites for large, small, and start-up firms. Outside of work, I’ve written promotional material, newsletters for nonprofits, and helped edit a few chapters of a nonfiction book. I’ve even helped friends write résumés, emails, and texts.

The great joy I take in helping others is why I started Nerdsmith Editing. A good edit is about more than finding someone’s mistakes. It’s about working with a creator so their words and ideas shine without losing their distinct voice.

I provide copyediting, proofreading, and writing services focusing on nonprofit, nonfiction, and corporate materials. Contact me to see how I can help. After all, “Every Word Needs a Nerd.“
